The Artish Harp Studio

The Artish Harp Studio Cynthia has been teaching harp students for 20 years. She delights in working with absolute beginners as well coaching those with more experience. All are welcome. Student ages range from five years to 80. It's never too late to learn! Lessons occur at her private studio in Diamond Bar and The Folk Music Center in Claremont, California. Her approach to teaching is unique, creative and fun; employing intuitive music-making skills. New students enjoy a six week introduction course, learning to play a tune by ear right away. At the end of it, they are free to choose to continue study or conclude their harp encounter. Sets of tunes are learnt by gradually layering on skills at the student's own pace. The result is mastery at every level where learners achieve a repertoire (playlist) they may perform and share with family and friends in casual settings, personal enjoyment; or that will prepare them for greater goals like recitals, concerts, college or vocation. Students receive custom lesson plans to meet individual needs, covering all genres of music: Celtic, Sacred, Folk, Classical, Children's music, Popular, Jazz, Renaissance, Worldbeat, Rock, contemporary original compositions and arrangements. We also train the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music curricula; The Irish Harp College curricula. We empower students to ultimately learn how to learn and fluently "speak" the language of music through friendly, patient encouragement.

Creating music by heart!

Our students are of all ages, from all backgrounds: children to adult; experienced musicians and those with no previous experience; paper-trained to improvisers; serious achievers to recreational music-makers. Our goal is to expand our knowledge and use of the harp with creativity and love; to embrace the living tradition of making music by hand and sharing it to make a difference.
